Ravi Teja Borrows From Amitabh and Vikram

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

Ravi Teja is an example for hard work that made him a hero after struggling for about 13 years. He played many trivial roles in many of the films. He toiled a lot to learn the slang as he wasn’t much acquainted with Telugu since his childhood (as he lived much of his childhood in North India). As a full length hero, he made an impact with ‘Itlu Sravani Subrahmanyam’ and banged the box office with ‘Idiot’. But many talk about Ravi Teja’s borrowed mannerisms. Some say that he imitates Amitabh Bachchan in dance movements. Now film circles say that he is bringing in the mannerisms of Tamil Vikram with his new film ‘Vikramarkudu’. “Vikram turned popular with ‘Aparichithudu’, ‘Siva Putrudu’ and ‘Mazaa’. Ravi Teja’s idea is to get the Vikram’s films remade on him in Telugu. Hence, he wishes to prove that he can fit well in the chemistry of Vikram”, says an observer. Well, if it were true, then there is nothing wrong in doing so. There used to be the similar transformation between Jitendra and Sobhan Babu, Satya Raj and Mohan Babu, MGR and NTR and Shivajiganesan and ANR.

Anushka’s secret formula for success.

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

Guess what the secret of actress Anushka’s success is. The actress, who made her start with Nagarjuna’s ‘Super’, is now busy acting in a couple of movies. Her last film ‘Mahanandhi’ with Sumanth was average. Now she is busy with Vishnu’s ‘Asthram’ and Raviteja’s ‘Vikramarkudu’.
We asked the yoga teacher turned actress what her success mantra is.
“If we venture to do a job with great enthusiasm and courage, success is assured. Ever since my youth days, I have been following this principle in life, which groomed me. My movies will be releasing one after another in the coming months and people will certainly appreciate my roles”, says a confident Anushka.
But the rumor making rounds is that it all because of a hero. In the recent times, she is moving very close with a hero. The divorced hero is doing lots of favors in return. Yes, in this world nothing comes for free.

Why Nagarjuna (Ramadasu) Subdued Suman (Lord Rama)?

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

Credits are bagged by everyone. Nagarjuna receives showers of kudos for his performance as Ramadasu. Sneha gets the lauds as great performer in this film. But Suman, who played the role of Lord Rama (indeed proved to be a Hobson’s choice to play such roles), didn’t receive what he has to obtain.
No Press Meet has given him the credit as good performer. Is it intentional practice to subdue Suman in order to maintain Nag’s hero worship? This is the question raised by a reader, which indeed deserves a mention.
Let us read what the anonymous reader mentions in his words, “One thing is troubling me regarding Sree Ramadasu movie. I am not a fan of Suman or anything like that but it beats me how his name is hardly mentioned in the publicity. Even in the posters, we really have to look for him.
The film is actually about bhakti towards Lord Rama and it’s an important and central role. Sree Ramdasu was famous for his devotion/bhakti towards Rama. The way these people sidelined Suman, who is the default choice of playing either lord Rama or Venkateswara or that kind of roles with ease and authority, is not fair.
It’s very sad that his performance does not get recognized and I am surprised that nobody has shared the same thought. Nagarjuna is full of praise for Sneha, director, writer and music director but forgets Suman.
Imagine if the person playing Lord Rama was not convincing enough? Do you think the movie would have had the credibility? I also believe they approached so many other heroes for this role including Abhsishek Bachan, Vikram etc and nobody wanted or couldn’t play (as earlier News Paper reports said). And they had to turn to Suman.
So, why these people are so afraid to give credit to Suman? One reason could be that Nag & Co are worried that Suman in Lord Rama’s role could over shadow his popularity if he is given publicity. I have seen so many press conferences on the movie and all of them have praised even the small artists but forgotten to mention Suman”.
“Indeed, Suman was highlighted considerably in ‘Annamayya’ but subdued in Sree Ramadasu”, says another reader.

Another ‘Love Story’ on School Going Children

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

The film ‘Chitram’ depicted the hot relation between a boy and a girl who are in early teens. Many said that it is an act of igniting sexual impulses in school going children. That is past. Then the film with the title ‘10th Class’ hit the screen. Although intended to pass on a message to audiences, the element of the film depicts the sexual intercourse between a boy and girl who are minors. This is present. Another film is slated to be made down the line with the title ‘Padahaarella Manasu’. News faces Amrutha and Suresh Krishna are appearing in lead roles. This is another school going love story that involves hot scenes either. The film is also getting dubbed into Tamil and thus it hits the screen in two languages at a time. Mandapati Venkate Radha Krishna is producing the film. He says that the film passes a message and brings immense identity to the hero and heroine. Well, needless to say, this is near future.

Ashok To Be Placed In Safe Groove amidst Bangaram and Pokiri

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

The film is about to release amidst competition. We are talking about NTR Jr’s film Ashok. The young star is apparently happy that the movie has shaped well. He is banking heavily on the film after a series of failures. He is paired once again with Sameera Reddy in the film that is likely to be released in the last week of May. Anyway, NTR Jr having wrapped up this project is ready to move on to his next. And that is with director S.S.Rajamouli . This is one of NTR’s major projects and will go on to the floors by June. NTR has heavy hopes on the film as the script projects him in a different light but not in a typical masala kind of role. He has a highly stylized kind of character and much thought has gone into its creation, sources say. NTR surely knows that he cannot afford to mess up these chances. So he himself is extra responsible in getting things right. That is the reason behind the postponement of Ashok’s release and doing movie with his lucky director Rajamouli brushing aside other projects. Pity, it has taken a few agonizing failures to get him into this groove.

Mumbai glamour doll Ayesha Takia is now repenting for losing a good offer in Tollywood. She was consulted to act with Mahesh Babu in “Pokiri,” directed by Puri Jagannath but somehow, she could not adjust her dates and refused the offer. Now with the offers in Mumbai are not too encouraging, she desperately tried to stage a comeback in Telugu. But it was too late. She is now regretting for turning down the offer in Pokiri, which is said to have come out well. However, Puri Jagannath promised to accmmodate her in the next film.

Audio release hungama is made for TV

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

It is no longer enough to have a 30-minute audio release function or film launch with the usual ribbon cutting or prayer ceremony. Now audio functions have become huge publicity extravaganzas extending three to four hours and featuring everything from dance shows to comedy acts. Big stars and thousands of fans attend these spectacles, which are in turn aired on television, much to the delight of producers. At an audio release function for Maha at Durgam Cheruvu on Friday, actresses Tanu Roy, Ankita and Pooja Bharathi danced to songs from the film. Then, on Sunday, producer Achi Reddy announced he would hold a three-hour audio launch party at Shilpakalavedika the following week featuring comedians from Tollywood among other entertainment. Driving this trend, admit producers, is television. K.C. Sekhar Babu, a veteran producer says it is necessary to have these big events for publicity reasons. “For anyone to successfully launch their product in the market, they have to get the attention of the audience. The present situation in the industry demands all this hungama. It is mainly done for the television viewing audience,” he explains. Lagadapati Sridhar, the young producer whose film Style released recently, agrees. “These three hour programmes get at least 30 minutes on television, and producers get a lot of publicity this way. What’s more, this is a chance for fans to see their favourite stars.” All does not always go smoothly, however. On Friday at Annapurna Studios, things turned ugly at a big film launch party by the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law Ravindra Reddy to which well-heeled guests from the political and film world were invited. Thousands of fans thronged the studio and police lost control over the crowd and lathi-charged them. Ultimately, the event and media conference were cancelled. Mega producer M.S. Raju, says he prefers low profile events these days. So low, in fact, that he didn’t invite media people to the launch of his yet to be released film Pournami. “Earlier I used to do these functions in a big manner, but later I realised I would rather put the money into my film and make it even better,” he says. However, he adds that these huge events have become a necessity in the present market and that only producers who had “reached a certain position” could afford to avoid them. For now, it seems, not many are willing to take the risk of being shut out of television, so expect more over-the-top entertainment off screen this summer. Courtesy: Deccan

Successful Charmy Learns Tricks Of Trade!

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

She can be called the great survivor. Charmi, these days, is the most sought-after second heroine. In “Mass” and ” Chakram “she played the second fiddle to top heroines Jyothika and Asin and made her presence felt. In the recent movies “Laxmi” and “Chukallo Chandrudu” Charmi shared the screen with other heroines. Here again, Charmi’s role has been appreciated. Though she played second heroine characters, she made people sit up and take notice of her. Charmi is now increasingly confident in two heroine subjects. Unlike other actresses, she feels comfortable and manages to hold her against any kind of challenge. “It is all in the mind,” she says. It takes special skills to do a second heroine role and still managing to come out on top. But Charmi has consistently managed that. Charmi is currently doing M.S.Raju’s “Pournami” beside Prabhas. Charmi has been facing tight vie from Trisha, Sindhu Thulani and Madhu Sharma. But trust Charmi, she has come out on top in this race too. She has almost specialized in that. It sees baby learnt the trick to grab the meatier roles in films.

‘Sekhar has a good sense of music’

Tuesday, April 11th, 2006

Sumanth is confident that the music of his new film Godawari will be a hit like his earlier film Anand. Reason? It has been composed by the same director, RADHA KRISHNAN. “I am pleased with the audio of Godawari. Radha Krishnan has composed melodious music. It is going to be a hit like that of Anand,” says Sumanath. Both the movies have the same director, Sekhar Kammula. “Sekhar has a good sense of music and he knows how to get good music from Radha Krishnan,” says Sumanath. Kamalini Mukherjee is playing the lead female role in Godawari.
